How to survive a painful breakup

How to survive a painful breakup

Bad romances do have painful breakups and can crush your spirit and cause anxiety, especially when you spend days and months mulling over what-went-wrong? How did it all happen? Chances are, you may never really get the answers or the closure you think you deserve. However, you could do a few things in the meantime so as not to be a burden to your friends, family, and yourself.

It is very easy to let yourself go - physically, mentally, emotionally. It’s a very hard time and everyone needs some time to wallow in their pain and to figure things out. Nevertheless, the key here is to keep that time brief!

  • Keep your dignity. You might have the urge to be bitter and talk trash about your girlfriend or boyfriend. Do not do it. Resist the urge. It would definitely keep your dignity with friends and family.
  • Look after yourself. You need to time to just be, for a while – like the movie ‘P.S.I Love you’ keep it brief. You need to get off that couch and make arrangements for a manicure, a pedicure, or both; get highlights and start eating right. When you look great, you will feel great too; and it is that much easier to find someone new.
  • Refocus. You may have spent most of your day and life with this partner, and now that they are gone, you feel miserable and out of focus. This is the time to refocus and bring back all those things you had put aside, such as that hobby, or that trip you have always wanted to take!
